Poor communication and customer experience has led us to discontinue service at Milton Vet Clinic. We’ve been going to Milton Vet for quite some time now. Prior to today’s appointment, I had separate conversations with some other Milton residents who mentioned they believed there has been pushy sales from the team there at Milton Vet Clinic, consistently pedaling optional medications. I never personally got that feeling until my most recent visit, today. During our most recent visit a few weeks ago, we declined certain meds and vaccines. Today only a few week’s later they continued to recommend and encourage them even though we recently previously declined them. This definitely gave me the same impression I had heard, pushy sales. Or at bare minimum it was negligent unread notes from our file. After our previous appointment a few weeks ago the Vet suggested a second appointment for services they struggled to complete that same day. It was specifically stated, insinuated, or we were made to believe the cost was already paid from the incomplete first vet visit and there wouldn’t be additional cost at the second visit. Lo and behold another $116 bill (after a previous $450+ bill the first visit). Shockingly more expensive for a ‘suggested’ follow up visit vs if the services had just being performed during the first visit. I was charged for a level 2 nail trimming (more expensive) for 1 dog and a level 1 nail trimming (less expensive) for the other. I asked about this and they stated if more vet techs are required to accomplish the nail trim, it’s more money. This was confusing to me because 2 vet techs were in the room with the level 2 dog while 3 were in the room for the level 1. The 3rd vet tech that came in during the level 1, gave the impression she either knew our dog and was there for presence or she was observing/shadowing the other techs. Additionally, during the level 2 nail trimming, they clipped my dogs quick, causing her to wince and whimper in pain (and later bleeding all over the house). I’ve never heard her like that before. The reason we’ve done nail trimming with the vet is because they’re suppose to do better. To be better than we can do at home. This was far from professional. For both dogs after a few clips, they claimed the nails were all good and didn’t need further trimming, yet instead of charging us for partial trimming, they charged us for full trimmings. During our previous appointment a few weeks ago, the Vet attempted to do a blood draw from one of our dog’s back legs. We stated during that time, he’s always very nervous about his back legs. The failed draw was one of the reasons used to recommend a second visit. Today during the follow-up they took blood from the front leg. Why wasn’t this done the first time to avoid a more expensive second visit cost? I’m thinking the answer to that is another reason for an increased labor up-sale and a second pass to push the meds we turned down the first time. Excellent communication would have been during the first visit to clearly communicate options for a medicated follow-up visit including details that sending in 2 separate labs would cost more OR attempting additional strategies during the initial visit like the front leg blood draw instead. Alas, none of this was transparently communicated. Excellent customer experience would have been to ethically charge a partial nail trimming vs a full nail trimming, and since they mistakenly clipped my dogs quick. In summary, poor communication has led us to seek services elsewhere.

Amazing staff! They are a very educated and a compassionate group of people.

Dr Kayla and the team were awesome when dealing with my puppy’s pneumonia. Super caring-called to check on her and followed us closely thru the whole episode. So thankful for Milton Vet Clinic!
